Our fees follow four engagement models from the Sedighi.ca consulting price list: hourly consulting at $175 to $350 per hour, defined projects at $3,500 to $25,000, monthly retainers at $2,500 to $12,000, and a custom, performance-based Growth Partner Program. Every figure here is in Canadian dollars, with GST/HST added according to your province (GST and QST in Quebec). The full parent price list is on BusinessConsulting.ca pricing.

The four engagement models

Each model fits a different kind of need, and your proposal names the one that applies.

Model Price (CAD) How it works
Hourly consulting $175–$350 per hour Billed for time used; suits single decisions and reviews
Project $3,500–$25,000 per project Defined scope, such as a diagnostic, assessment or plan, with milestone payments
Monthly retainer $2,500–$12,000 per month Standing advice plus steering of the agreed plan
Growth Partner Program Custom Fees tied to measured results, with Ali committing time first. Limited partnerships available

The initial 30-minute consultation is free and carries no obligation. There is no lock-in: projects end when deliverables are accepted, and retainer terms, including notice, are written into your proposal.

Which service usually sits in which model

Most of our six services map to one model, though scope can change that.

Hourly consulting covers everything else: a second opinion before a lease signing, a review of a plan your team wrote, or a single difficult decision.

What moves a price within its range

Five factors account for most of the difference between the low and high end of a range.

  1. Number of locations and service lines. Each one adds its own margin analysis and its own process walk-throughs.
  2. Data quality. Clean, categorised accounting and job records shorten analysis; reconstructing figures from invoices lengthens it.
  3. Number of interviews. Four conversations take less time than twelve across two sites.
  4. Depth of design. Recommending a new structure is quicker than writing every role outline and procedure for it.
  5. Implementation depth. A monthly steering meeting costs less than steering plus hands-on work between meetings.

A worked comparison for one owner

Suppose an owner wants a 13-week cash forecast, margins for three service lines and a simple KPI scorecard. Here is how the same need could be bought three ways, using hypothetical hour counts.

  • Hourly. If the work took about 30 hours at $250 per hour, the fee would be $7,500. Hourly suits owners whose team does much of the building and only needs review.
  • Project. Scoped as a financial clarity project, the same deliverables would carry a fixed price somewhere within the $3,500 to $25,000 range, paid at milestones. The advantage is certainty: overruns are ours to absorb within the agreed scope.
  • Retainer. If the owner also wants the scorecard reviewed monthly and actions steered for six months, a retainer at, say, $3,000 per month totals $18,000 over the period and includes the ongoing support.

The cheapest option on paper is not always the cheapest overall. A forecast nobody updates after week four has cost money without changing a decision.

Sales tax by province

Tax is added according to the client's province, at Canada Revenue Agency rates as of October 2026 (CRA GST/HST rates).

Province or territory Rate
Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Yukon, Northwest Territories, Nunavut 5% GST
Ontario 13% HST
Nova Scotia 14% HST
New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island 15% HST
Quebec 5% GST plus 9.975% QST

For clients in BC, Manitoba or Saskatchewan, provincial sales tax is charged only where it applies to the service. Your CPA can confirm how input tax credits apply to your business.

How to get a firm number

Text or call (604) 632-4959, or email Ali@Sedighi.ca, with a few lines about the business and what you want solved. After the free initial consultation you receive a written proposal with scope, deliverables, milestones and price. Read the FAQ for contract questions, or see how to reach us.

Frequently asked questions

Why are your prices shown as ranges?

Because the work varies. A diagnostic for a single-location firm with clean records takes far less time than one for three locations with incomplete data. The range tells you the order of magnitude; your proposal fixes the actual figure.

Is the first conversation really free?

Yes. The initial 30-minute consultation is free, with no obligation, whether it happens by phone, video call or in person.

How are projects paid?

Projects are paid in milestone payments tied to deliverables, as set out in your proposal. Retainers are billed monthly, and hourly work is billed for time used.

Do you offer discounts?

No. We quote the listed rates and ranges. If budget is tight, we narrow the scope instead, for example starting with the cash forecast alone rather than a full financial clarity project.

What is the Growth Partner Program?

It is our performance-based option: Ali puts his time in first, and payment depends on results that both sides can measure. Terms are custom, and limited partnerships are available, so it suits only a small number of businesses where results can be measured cleanly.
